Impacted by the birth of her daughter, Blissed’s founder Erin started Leah's Polar Hugs in 2017.
The name is inspired by the cooling caps and blankets used to bring down an HIE newborn's body temperature to try to halt neurological deterioration and allow the brain to stabilize.
While hugs are naturally considered warm and cozy, the cold 'hug' this life-changing equipment provides is just the right thing at just the right time for HIE babies.
While there are never any guarantees, Leah's Polar Hugs believes every baby born with HIE deserves a chance at the best possible outcome regardless of where or when they are born. Funds donated to Leah’s Polar Hugs go directly towards helping NICUs purchase this life saving cooling equipment to treat babies born with HIE, and supporting HIE NICU families through our Hugs & Hope care packages.
